By July Air One will fly to 11 domestic, international and intercontinental destinations from this important northern Italy hub. Berlin is the fourth destination, the first European one, which Air One is connecting with direct flights from Malpensa.
Air One inaugurated its first flights from Malpensa on March 30, with four daily flights connecting Rome Fiumicino and two daily flights to Naples, while on April 1st the daily Malpensa-Palermo connection was activated.
On June 2nd a Malpensa-Brussels flight will begin service (twice daily), on June 7th will see the initiation of two daily flights to Athens and on June 8th the daily flight connection Malpensa -Salonika will be inaugurated.
Starting in June Air One will begin flying intercontinental destinations from Malpensa to Boston and Chicago. These flights will be operated in collaboration with United Airlines, the leading US airline, and will permit the passenger to continue his/her journey on its vast network of US destinations.
Starting on July 8 the connections between Malpensa -Bari and Malpensa -Lamezia Terme (each with daily flights) will be inaugurated and the flight frequency to Palermo will be doubled.
The domestic and international destinations will be flown primarily with new Airbus A320s and Bombardier CRJ9000s, both of which are new acquisitions of the Air One fleet, while the new intercontinental flights will be operated with two Airbus A330-200s.
With the inauguration of these new destinations, Air One aims to become the most important airline operating from the Malpensa hub, thanks to its programmed continuous increase of destinations and flight frequencies.
When all the flights currently planned become operative, Air One will operate 140 weekly flights from Malpensa.Other flights are planned for inauguration in the third and fourth quarters of 2008.The activation of these flights aims to provide a service which responds to the needs of connecting Northern Italy to Europe and the rest of the world.
In 2007 Air One had over 37% of the domestic market share. With its 3400 employees (including those who work for the holding company) Air One flies to 21 domestic, 10 international and 2 intercontinental (starting in June) destinations, plus many other destinations with its code-share partners. In 2007 Air One carried more than 7.5 million passengers to their destinations and registered an income of about 750 million euros.
