Tomorrow March 30 the new Air One flights depart form Milan Malpensa
29 March 2008
By summer Air One will connect Malpensa to 11domestic, international and intercontinental destinations
Tomorrow morning at 9:40 a.m. the first Air One flight from Milan-Malpensa will depart for Naples. At 10:45 another Air One Airbus A320 will take off for Rome-Fiumicino.
Naples and Rome are only the first two destinations of 11 new domestic, international and intercontinental destinations which Air one will activate from Malpensa by this summer.
Apart from the Rome Fiumicino (with four daily flights) and the Naples (two daily flights) from April 1st flight, Air One will also be serving Palermo (one daily flight to begin with) from Milan-Malpensa.
On May 2ndAir One will activate a flight from Milan-Malpensa to Berlin (one flight per day which will replace the Linate-Berlin flight) in order to give Malpensa its due importance as international hub as well as integrate it into the ever expanding Air One network.
On June 2ndthe Air One Milan-Malpensa-Brussels flight will begin service (with two daily flights); on June7th it will initiate its twice daily flight to Athens and on June 8th the daily connection with Thessalonica will be activated.
Starting June, Air One will activate its flights from Milan-Malpensa to Boston and to Chicago, the first long range destinations offered by Air One.The flights to these two US cities will be operated in collaboration with US Airways (to Boston) and United Airlines(to Chicago), two major US airlines which will permit the passenger to connect to their respective US domestic networks.
Starting on July 8th Air One will initiate its daily Malpensa-Bari and Malpensa-Lamezia Terme flights, and the flights, now daily, to Palermo, will become twice daily flights.
The domestic and international flights will be operated with brand new Airbus A320 and Bombardier CRJ900 planes, new members of the Air One fleet, while the new intercontinental flights will be operated with two Airbus A330-200.
With these new initiatives, Air One aims to become the main Milan-Malpensa carrier, thanks to its programme of constant growth in number of destinations and flight frequency.
Air One, by mid June, will have 140 weekly flights from Milan-Malpensa. In the second half of 2008 more new flights are being planned.
The Air One Malpensa programme has been further strengthened by the recent decrease in the flights of other airlines and the consequent increase in market opportunities for Air One in the Northern Italy area. Air One, and its new flights, aims to offer a concrete response to the needs of Northern Italy to connect with Europe and the rest of the world.
In 2007 Air One had over 37% of the domestic market chare. With its 3000 employees (including those who work for the holding company) Air One flies to 23 domestic, 10 international and 2 intercontinental (starting in June) destinations, plus many other destinations with its code-share partners. In 2007 Air One carried more than 7.5 million passengers to their destinations and registered an income of circa 700 million euros.
