THE INTERCONTINENTAL FLIGHTS ARE TAKING OFF
5 domestic and 4 international flights in departure  Flights to Boston and Chicago starting in June

Air One is activating new domestic, international and intercontinental flights from Milan-Malpensa airport. Starting on March 30 there will be flights to Rome Fiumicino and Naples, from April 1 to Palermo, from May 2 to Berlin, from June 2 to Brussels, from June 7 toAthens, from June 8 toThessalonica, from July 8 to Bari and Lamezia Terme and double the amount of flights to Palermo.
From June the first intercontinental flights to Boston and Chicago will take off.

At the Press Conference which presented the new flights Carlo Sangalli, President of the Milan Chamber of Commerce, Lino Bergonzi, General Manager of Air One, Raffaele Cattaneo, Infrastructure and Mobility Councellor for the Lombardy Region, Giuseppe Bonomi, President of the SEA, the company which manages both Malpensa and Linate airports, Giorgio De Roni, Air One Network and Marketing Manager and Marcel Fuchs, United Airlines Sales Manager for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India were all present.

The potential of Malpensa and the role of Air One
MalpensaAirport has a natural pool of passengers which is among the most significant in all of Europe (fifth in ranking) with more daily passengers in arrival and departure than Amsterdam and Munich, only slightly less than Rome Fiumicino and Frankfurt. The catchment area of Malpensa airport is continually growing thanks to the new infrastructure recently completed, or about to be completed, which will be able to handle an ever increasing amount of passenger traffic. Malpensa airport is one of the few European hubs which is not yet congested and offers tremendous growth opportunity. By the year 2012, thanks to the new roads and railway connections planned, the passenger pool of the airport will grow even more: the amount of potential passengers two hours travelling time away from the airport will almost triple, reaching 17.5 million possible travellers (today there are 6.4 million), the amount of possible passengers one hour travelling time away will increase by 5.7 million (from the current 3.2 million), and the number of companies two hours travelling time away from Malpensa will increase from the current 551,000 to more than 1.6 million. The progressive growth of Air One at Malpensa will have very favourable repercussions on the area’s economy.
The activation of new Air One flights is only the first step of a far wider programme which plans to offer concrete solutions to the need for direct flights between Northern Italy, Europe and the rest of the world.
In their 2007-2011Business Plan, Air One planned flights from Milan-Malpensa airport to numerous domestic, international and intercontinental destinations. The planned flights from Malpensa have been further reinforced in light of the recent reductions of direct flights from the airport and the consequent new opportunities offered today by the northern market. In all, with the launching of this first series of flights, by mid June there will be 140 weekly flights.
The 2007 – 2011 Business Plan has Air One becoming the main Malpensa carrier, thanks to a programme which sees a constant growth of flight frequency and in the number destinations served.

One of Europe’s youngest fleets
The constant expansion and service quality improvements which have characterised Air One in the recent past, a feature at the roots of the 2007-2011 Business Plan, has also made it possible to renew and increase the fleet. The Company has placed and confirmed orders for 90 Airbus A320s, of which 14 have already entered the fleet, while the remainder will be delivered at a rhythm of one per month. Ten new 90 seater Bombardier CRJ900s (of which the last one was delivered in 2007) have also entered the fleet in order to operate regional flights, while the new intercontinental flights will be flown with two A330-200 Airbuses.
By the end of the year the fleet will have a total of 60 airplanes. In 2012 Air One will have one of the youngest fleets in all of Europe.

National Air One flights from Malpensa
From March 30, Air One will inaugurate its new direct flights from Milan-Malpensa to Rome-Fiumicino and Naples, while from April 1st the new Malpensa-Palermo flight will be inaugurated. From July 8 the Malpensa – Bari and Malpensa – Lamezia Terme flights will begin their service while the Palermo destination will see a doubling of its flight frequency.
The timetables of these flights have been studied in order to link to new long range flights and the Air One and its partners’ international flights, as well as letting passengers take advantage of same day return flight schedules, the ideal solution for the business clientele. These flights will be prevalently operated with new A320 Airbuses.
The Malpensa – Fiumicino flights will operate four times per day, while the flights to Napleswill be twice daily and Bari daily. The Milano – Palermo connection will be served with daily flights starting on April 1st. Starting from July 8th there will be a second daily flight. The Malpensa – Lamezia Terme flight is seasonal and will be daily until September 27.

Air One flights from Malpensa to the rest of Europe
Air One will begin the activation of its new international flights starting in early June from Milan-Malpensa to Bruxelles (on 2 June) , Athens (on June 7) and Thessalonica (on June 8).
The Malpensa – Bruxelles flight will be twice daily and operate with a Bombardier CRJ900. The Malpensa – Thessalonica flight will operate another Bombardier CRJ900 daily, while the Athensconnection will operate a new Airbus A320 twice a day.
In order to improve the MalpensaAirport and integrate it into an ever increasing network, from May 2 Air One will fly to Berlin-Tegel from MalpensaAirport instead of LinateAirport, keeping the flight schedule unchanged. A Bombardier CRJ900 will be used for this connection.

The new Air One intercontinental flights from Malpensa: Boston and Chicago
One of the most important novelties of the Air One at Malpensa plan is its entrance into the long range market with the activation of its first two intercontinental destinations.
Boston and Chicago have been chosen as first destinations due to an agreement with Open Skies and its high traffic potential (above all in the business market, but also for leisure travel). The flights to these destinations will be operated in collaboration with well consolidated US airlines which will consent an entry into the even broader destinations market in North America.
From June the first Air One intercontinental flight will take off to Boston with US Airways. The Milan-Boston connection will operate five weekly flights (every day except Tuesday and Thursday) and the schedules will make sure the passengers arrive in time to make their connection with the shuttle from Boston to Washington DC and New York as well as the other destinations in the USA served by US Airways (Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Charlotte, San Francisco and Denver).Passengers flying Air One from Milan-Malpensa to Boston, and vice versa, can earn mileage points with the US Airways’ Dividend Miles programme and the Miles & More of Lufthansa.
From June the Air One Milan-Malpensa – Chicago O’Hare code-share flight (now being finalised) with United Airlines, world leader in the US market, will be inaugurated. There will be six weekly flights (every day except Wednesday). The time schedules for these new Air One flights have been studied to guarantee arrival in Chicago in time to connect with United Airlines’ domestic network flights to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Detroit, Orlando, Seattle, Houston, Dallas, San Diego, Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas and Pittsburgh.Passengers flying with Air One from Milan-Malpensa to Chicago and vice versa, can earn mileage points with their membership in United Airlines’ Mileage Plus programme and Lufthansa’s Mile & More programme.
Those passengers arriving from the United States of America to Malpensa can connect, thanks to the comfortable schedule, to other domestic destinations (Rome Fiumicino, Naples, Palermo, Bari and Lamezia Terme) as well as to other Air One European destinations (Berlin, Brussels, Athens and Thesalonica).Furthermore, they can connect with Air One partner companies to Warsaw (with Lot flights), Riga and Vilnius (with Air Baltic flights), Lisbon and Oporto (with Tap flights) and Malta (with Air Malta flights).

Further services for Air One passengers at Malpensa
The new Air One domestic, international and intercontinental flights all take off from Terminal 1 at Malpensa. There will be an Air One ticketing office for those passengers who need to buy their tickets directly at the airport and, apart from the traditional check-in desks, the Company will install self check-in terminals which will let the passenger get his boarding pass in just a few minutes by registering himself directly at the terminal.Further more, Air One passengers departing from Malpensa on domestic and international flights can check themselves in, up to two hours before the scheduled departure of the flight, using web check in, printing their own boarding passes directly from the www.flyairone.it website.

Air One passengers holding a Welcome Card or business class ticket may use the Vip Club waiting room run by the SEA located at Terminal 1.

A plan for a rapidly growing Malpensa
These are only the first eleven destinations Air One will inaugurate from Milan-Malpensa. Other flights to other destinations are already being studied and could be activated in the second half of 2008.

With its 3000 employees (including those working for its holding company) Air One flies to over 23 domestic, 10 international and 2 intercontinental destinations, plus many more through code-share agreements. In 2007 Air One carried more than 7.5 million passengers and registered an income of 700,000,000 Euro circa.
